Each
belt level has a required curriculum to be met. Each part of the curriculum requires
a test. Once the student passes the test on a set of techniques he/she will be
awarded a stripe with the name of the techniques written on the stripe. Once the
student has all of the required stripes for their current belt level he/she will
be awarded a stripe which will be the color of the next belt. The student will
be eligible to promote to their new belt on the next available belt promotion
day. You
must have your color stripe at least 15 days prior to belt promotion day.
1. No stripe exam can be done during the same class time the series of techniques
was practiced with an instructor. The student is expected to practice & retain
what is learned from the previous classes.
2.
The student must be able to perform all techniques in a series.
Example #1:
combination kicks 4 - 7 consecutively
Example #2: basic one steps 3 &
4 consecutively
Example #3: All of your pattern
3.
There should be no hesitation from one move or kick to another.
(no stopping
to think between moves or wrong moves)
4. The
students technique and confidence should be sharp. (Including loud yells)
5.
The students footwork & balance should be sharp.
6.
In order to take part in a belt promotion testing you must have your color stripe
15 days prior to the testing date.
7. It is
the students responsibility to know what their curriculum is and what it is that
they need to practice in class.
8. If a student
feels that he or she is ready to be tested on a series of techniques they should
politely ask an instructor to do so
Once you
earn a stripe your are expected to keep practicing and maintain the knowledge.
If one of the Instructors feel you have lost knowledge of that stripe they may
remove the stripe until you are able to show the same proficiency that you did
to earn it the first time.

Exam Testing
Once a student has learned all of the techniques in a series
he/she must wait a minimum of 3 full class periods before attempting to test on
that set of techniques. If the student practices on a different set of techniques
during the 3-day period it would not count towards the 3 day total. Pattern is
to follow the same guideline. In the case of an adult student who is repeating
a set of techniques from a previous belt the period will be reduced to a minimum
of 1 full class. Under no circumstances will the time be reduced for someone trying
to meet the stripe exam deadline.
Example:
A yellow belt child is required to learn combination kicks 8-12.
In previous
class periods he/she learned 8-11 and now has just learned #12. He/she will continue
to practice combination kicks in at least three more classes. In the beginning
of the 4th class he/she will be eligible to stripe test. The 3-day period is the
minimum standard and does not mean that the student has to stripe test. If he/she
wants more practice that decision will be respected.
