Email from Ib Christensen, Ærø, Denmark, after he checked records at Lundet, Bregninge, and Bjerreby parishes on the island of Tåsinge, Svendborg Amt, Denmark: "Hans Larsen b 09.02.1844 (d.m.y.). The sponsors at his baptism were: Jacob Larsen's wife from Lundby, farmer Jacob Larsen from Lundby, Peder Eskemand from Lundby, and Hans Jensen from Bjerreby. I did not check for brothers and sisters."
"Hans was married to Maren Kirstine Rasmussen. . . Where Hans and Maren got married is a mystery to me; I simply cannot find it in the parish records for either Bregninge nor Landet Parishes."
"Hans and Maren went to live in Bregninge, where they rented a small house. Hans worked as a wooden-shoe maker, which was usually a job for old or poor people. No wonder they decided to emigrate. What you must understand is that land was next to impossible to get hold of, since a large part of the land on Taasinge was owned by the local landlord, sitting at his Manor at Valdemar Slot. He rented a large number of farms and houses to local farmers, but due to the increase in the population in the time after 1820, only a few of the young men on Taasinge could hope to obtain/rent land to farm."

1. Ane Margrethe Larsen Bodker [Bødker] b. 21.06.1871. Sponsors at her baptism were: Hans Jensen, Kristen Madsen, Kristen Rasmussen, and Ane Rasmussen, all from Bregninge.
2. Laura Larsen b. 29.09.1873. Sponsors at her baptism were: Niels Rasmussen, School teacher M. Madsen from Bregninge, Lars Hansen Bodker [Bødker] from Knudsbølle (her grandfather), and the widow of Hans Hansen.
3. Kirstine Larsen b. ca. 1877. I cannot find her baptized in Bregninge parish, although the 1880 census states that she was born there.
4. Karl Valdemar Larsen Bodker [Bødker] b. 05.07.1881, baptized 25.09.1881. Sponsors were: Peder Nielsen Væver [Weaver] from Bregninge, bachelor Henrik Larsen from Bregninge (perhaps a brother of Hans), bachelor Peder Nielsen farm manager, and Johanne Kristensen from Bregninge."
