Notes for Maren Kirstine RASMUSDATTER
Email from Ib Christensen, Ærø, Denmark, 28 Nov 2003, after he looked up records on Tåsinge:
"At her baptism [Maren Kirstine Rasmussen], bachelor Rasmus Jensen from Stjovis Mill at Bjerreby Parish acknowledged that he was her father. She was baptized on 21.02.1847. Whether Karen and Rasmus later got married or she married someone else I did not check."
Clerk's Office, Detroit Lakes, MN: "____Larson Child born June 25, 1883, a child born to Hans & Christina Larson." (By process of elimination after viewing 1885 Minnesota State census data, this is Thorval's birth date.)

Obituary column says Christina & Hans had eleven children, but 1900 US Census lists her as having given birth to nine children. List of names and dates of birth for all is incomplete here since I don't yet know the names of the other children, or how many children were born to Maren for sure - nine (as she told census enumerator in 1900) or eleven (as stated in her obituary).
Birth of 14 Nov 1845 listed in newspaper column for Christine Larson; death info taken from obituary column from Oregon newspaper. Larson & Larsen spellings are both found in obituary column for surnames of male offspring who survived her, so I've typed them as they appeared.
Obituary Source: Carmen Carver (she received photocopy of obituary from a woman in Madras, Oregon, and the name of the newspaper was not included).
(Handwritten under her name is date 10-30-1919, apparently the date of publication of the newspaper. The spelling of Larson and Larsen are both used in the column; spelling and punctuation are typed as they appear in the obituary notice, errors and all.)
Mrs. Christena Larson
Christena Larson was born in Denmark Nov. 14, 1845.
She and Hans Larsen, her husband with their family came from Denmark to America and located in Minnesota in 1880 [sic], where they lived until the death of Mr. Larsen twenty one years ago. They were blesed [sic] with eleven children. She followed her husband to the beyond from the home of her son, O.H. Larsen, at Hood River, Oregon, October 22nd., 1919. Her remains were brought to Madras, Oregon for interment. The funeral services were held in the M. E. church of Madras, October 28th, 1919. Rev. M.F. Childs of the Free Methodist Church conducted the services.
He preached an interesting sermon from the words, "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment, so Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many, and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto Salvation."
The church was neatly decorated and the choir rendered some good music.
The children who remain to mourn the loss of the mother are: Mrs. Maylan Carver, of Austin, Minnesota; Carl Larsen of Austin, Minnesota, Mrs. Sena Carver, of Mackintosh, Minnesota; T.W. Larson, of Madras, Oregon, and O.H. Larsen of Hood River.
Notes for Hans B. & Maren Kirstine (Family)
This is not a complete list of the offspring of Hans B. Larsen and Maren Kirstine Rasmusdatter. I still need to obtain the 1895 MN State Census to find out the names of the other children (ordered; not here yet). The 1885 MN State Census is online, but 1895 is not, so I need to look at the microfilm images.
