Hap
Corbett is a widely published writer whose career in journalism and writing
has spanned more than a half century.
His pursuit of writing began in the forties when he was a popular columnist
and feature writer for The Judge, the school paper for John Marshall High
School in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
He continued his studies in journalism while serving as an infantryman
for the U.S. Army in Korea. Following his discharge in 1953, he went to
work for a large metropolitan weekly newspaper in Minneapolis. For seven
years with that paper, he was assistant editor.
During the next three decades he had a variety of careers in sales,
public relations and self-employed businesses. He also served as general
manager of a radio station. All the while, he continued to write as a freelancer
and his work was regularly published in many nationally circulated newspapers
and magazines.
When he "retired" in 1993, he turned to writing full time. He founded
two nationally circulated newsletters which continues to be published.
He teaches a community education course entitled "On Being A Writer"
and is a very popular author of children's stories which he reads to students
in kindergarten through fourth grade.
Happily married to his darling wife, Doris, for nearly 50 years, he
is the father of eight beautiful children and a growing number of loving
grandchildren and great grandchildren.
