  Computer & PDA Donations

Home

Click here for a list of individuals and companies who have generously donated much-appreciated equipment. Equipment provided to us takes on a new life! Don't just throw a broken or obsolete computer in the trash - someone else can surely benefit from it.

Thank you for your interest in donation of computer parts. Our shop accepts standard and laptop computers (PC and Macintosh) as well as PocketPC or Palm OS PDA devices in various stages of operation from individuals and corporations. For your protection, all data is permanently erased from the equipment. Each system - where possible - is restored to a working condition with the original operating system and original software when available.

Components salvaged from damaged computers are combined to create working systems or set aside for use as test equipment or sold as replacement parts. Operational computers are wiped clean of all data, receive hardware upgrades when practical to do so, then prepared for use.

These computers are utilized in a variety of purposes. Some are used for testing while others are used for training or donated to local charitable organizations, families and small businesses that could benefit from the use of such a computer. Still others are provided free of charge to our customers who require the use of a computer while theirs is being repaired. PDA devices are erased of data and then either used for parts, or repaired for donation or sale. Computer equipment donated by people like you is always valued and appreciated.

Items should be shipped to our address using any standard carrier. Use original containers if possible, and ship heavy items in a heavy-duty or double-lined cardboard box with sufficient padding to protect the equipment from (additional) damages. Securely tape the package so as to avoid bursting or loss of contents. If the package contains loose parts or have been involved in fire or please seal them in a heavy plastic bag. Flood-salvaged items should be allowed to dry prior to packaging. If there are any potential safety concerns, such as contaminated or biohazardous material, please contact us for other instructions. Local donations - within our service territory - may be picked up by us or made available for pickup at a collection area.

Currently, we accept:

  • Computers in any condition - though preferably intact. Systems from 1996 and newer are most useful.
  • Media such as SmartMedia, CompactFlash (etc.) Zip disks, SyQuest cartridges, hard disk drives
  • Computer accessories such as keyboards, mice and cables or other assorted devices.
  • PDA devices with accessories such as keyboards, cradles, chargers, expansion cards, cables and stylus.

For your generosity and effort, and to thank you for your donation we may do one or more of the following:

  • Include your name or the name of your business in a special area of our web site in recognition of your contribution
  • Provide referral links or complimentary advertising for your company (where applicable) on our web site(s)
  • If you request that specific data be recovered and returned to you, please indicate this. Please note that on donated equipment, the cost of data recovery will not exceed the value of the equipment itself. Efforts to recover and return requested data will be made in good faith - but we cannot honor all requests to do so, particularly if the device holding the data is damaged in such a way that prevents recovery, or if insufficient information about what is to be recovered is available. Under no circumstance will a promise or guarantee of data recovery - of any sort - be made for donated equipment. Please assume that all computers donated to us will be erased of all data.

Please feel free to e-mail if you have other questions or would like more information. Otherwise, the shipping address - should you decide to use it - appears below.
