Midsommar in Manhattan,
June 2001
We performed with our friends from Sweden, Brodéns
Kapell, in Battery Park overlooking the Statue of Liberty and
Ellis Island on June 18, 2001. As a group we played music for
raising the majstång, dancing around the majstång
and for general gammal dancing and listening enjoyment. The crowd
was estimated to be in the 3000+ range, with about 1000 people
dancing around the pole. It was a true spectacle to behold, especially
for people from rural Minnesota! Thanks to Paul and Marikay Dahlin
for recommending us for the job, a big Minnesota hug to Abby
at the Battery Park City Parks Conservancy for working so hard
to make it happen for us, and squeezes to Jeanne and Randy Widman
for just being you!
