PAUL WILSON & MARY ABENDROTH

May 2000 has been an absolutely crazy month for us, but also very rewarding. We have done three week-long school residencies, in Ashland, Wi., Brainerd, Mn. and Montevideo, Mn. teaching elementary kids to value special things in life like making your own music and dance and doing things TOGETHER. We have become such a fragmented society in so many ways, it's scary! It's nice to see the kids having so much fun at this, because it also helps us adults to remember that it still can be this way!! Don't forget! Okay? Here are three pics from our stay in Montevideo:

Heritage Week in Chippewa City Pioneer Village, Montevideo, Mn. May 2000

 Mary playing the bass

"We are fine musicians, we come from Minnesota!" Mary leads the dancing around the majstang (maypole) Here we are all playing the bass viol.....................

Paul fiddling around

The fine musicians go on to play the violin..........

Paul looking goofy

Paul looks a bit goofy as he waits to play his squeezebox in the historic gazebo on the grounds of the Chippewa Village.

"vi skal dansa Labado" yes, it's silly, but kids just love seeing their parents being silly - perhaps we are all a bit too "serious" in our day to day lives?
