Missy the Cat - At The Ranch

Remembering Missy the Cat (1985 - 2002)

Missy the Cat loved The Ranch. Born and raised in St. Paul, he had many adventures, and used up quite a few of his nine lives. From being hopelessly tangled inside a recliner, to running away from home for two weeks, Missy was no stranger to adventure and danger. The Ranch offered a more relaxed - and more open - place for such activity. Missy enjoyed spending time at the dock looking at the fish, and exploring the woods in search of chipmunks and other forest creatures.

What a difference three months can make! Missy became frail and weak in his last few months, and though he still had his spirit and much of his character about him, he wasn't quite the same cat anymore.

Dependent on us for everything, Missy needed lots of good food, a bath every couple of days, and a lot of TLC. There was never a question of the mutual friendship and love between Missy and us.

On Monday, November 25th 2002 at 9:30pm, I was able to help Missy end his suffering.

He developed ear tumors that were just too much for an old cat to handle. His spirit was too full for his weakened body to contain, and we could no longer bear to see him deteriorate as the weeks went by. At nearly 18 years old, Missy had lived a full life. He moved to The Ranch in 1998 and enjoyed his last four years to their fullest.

Although Ellie and I will greatly miss his presence, his spirit will live on at The Ranch.
