"Aaron, my six year old son, and I were looking for a sport that we could both participate in with an equal chance to do well. As an adult I would totally dominate a six year old in almost any other sport such as, Baseball, Football, Golf, ect. However with Tae-Kwon-Do, a six year old is as empowered to progress as any adult. In fact, because of the energy, enthusiasm, and flexibility that most six year olds have, He has been able to “Kick Daddy’s butt” in many of the activities. It has been a wonderful experience watching a shy little boy crawl out of his cocoon and face his world with confidence. Now, he’s the one asking “Daddy, do you need some help with your Tae-Kwon-Do.” As a Father and Son activity, Tae-Kwon-Do would be hard to beat."

I joined TKD in August of 2001 very shortly after moving to Little Falls. I was not sure what to expect but I thought I would give it a try. Here I was 42 years old. New city, new friends to make and I thought it would be a good challenge. I have not been dissappointed. More over, I have been inspired and encouraged by each and every member of my Tuesday, Thursday morning class. I am overweight and out of shape but getting better. My goals are constantly being reworked but one thing stays constant and that is my desire to come to class and learn new things. It is a challenge that I accept almost always with gladness. Through all the changes going on in my life TKD with its ever changing and challenging cirriculum is my constant. I get almost ornary when I have to miss a class!
I meet new people almost daily and I can tell you that I will try to bring TKD into the conversation. Many people feel much like I did - out of shape, questioning weather they can really do something like TKD. I assure them that if I can so can they. The competition is against yourself and no one else. You are your own harshest critic and your own best friend. The greatest feeling of accomplishment is when you promote to the next belt level. From there you can't wait for your next cirriculum.
Bring it on!

After my first child was born, I started looking at ways to get back in
shape. I invested in a weight set, then bought a trial membership at a
local fitness club, attempted daily jogs, and even did the workout-video
thing. Everything I tried failed. In the end, I resorted to the usual
bike rides, walks, and roller-blading, none of which gave me a real
workout.

My second pregnancy was tough and left me with numerous physical issues
to overcome. In May of 2006, when my second son was just 2 months old,
it became apparent I needed to do something soon. After discussing it
with my family and convincing a friend to join with me, I gave TKD a
shot. After the first class, I knew immediately it was exactly what I
was looking for. I was gaining in cardio, strength, and flexibility -
AND working my mind.

Classes are neither too long nor too short, are spaced out just right,
and occur at the perfect time of night. I am able to have dinner with
my family and still be home to put my kids to bed. Also, while I am at
class, my husband has valuable alone-time with our boys that he would
normally not have.

Since starting TKD, I have lost a significant amount of weight and have
been able to keep my health issues in check. More importantly, my time
in TKD has made me a better mother, wife, and friend* a better total
person. I have more energy to devote to my family, more ability to
focus on and manage life, and more patience to see what’s important.

Shortly after I started in TKD, my family asked me, “How long do you
plan to do this?” My response: “For the rest of my life.”
